{open} opened its doors on November 15, 2003. In March of 2007, {open} relocated to mid-town Long Beach and its current location in the awesome 4th Street business district known as “Retro Row.”

{open} is owned by business partners Sé Reed and Shea M Gauer.

sé (28) is mesmerized by the concept of time and does not want to live in a world without paper. She got her BA in print journalism from CSULB and hasn’t wanted to leave Long Beach since. In addition to {open}, she is a freelance writer, editor and web designer.

In addition to {open}, shea (33) contributes illustrations and editorial graphics for numerous local publications (ontheroughseesofmyeyes.blogspot.com). shea is also a member of FLOOD, a local artist collective responsible for downtown long beach’s annual SoundWalk event, as well as many other installations and performances.
